Dr. Christian Hüttich started working in October as researcher and lecturer at the Department of Remote Sensing at the University of Würzburg. Christian is teaching applied Earth observation and digital image analyses & GIS in the EAGLE graduate program (M.Sc.). Christian is further working with the new German Aerospace Center for Data Science on strengthening the interoperability of citizen science approaches, in-situ data and Earth observation techniques for ecosystem monitoring and land management.

Christian worked as project manager at Jena-Optronik GmbH and Post-Doc Researcher at the Department of Earth Observation of the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena. He received his degree as Diplomgeograph at the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena in 2006. He got his PhD in 2011 at the Friedrich-Schiller-University in Jena.

Working in several applied research projects in the academic and commercial sector (Uni Jena, Uni Würzburg in cooperation with DLR, Jena-Optronik GmbH) on applied Earth observation, he realized research projects on Earth observation of vegetation in the arid and semi-arid ecosystems, boreal forest monitoring, phenology mapping and climate change mitigation and adaption, health mapping, and wetland monitoring.
